A writer living in Chicago's Rogers Park Neighborhood, David Torrey Peters received his MFA from the University of Iowa's Nonfiction Writing Program, where he was an Iowa Arts Fellow and a writer-in-residence at the University of Iowa Museum of Art. David has lived in the Dominican Republic, Cameroon, and Washington D.C.  Before attending Iowa, he worked for the NewsHour With Jim Lehrer.  

David's writing has been published  or is forthcoming in Epoch, Fourth Genre: Explorations In Nonfiction, Indiana Review, The Pinch, and Best Travel Writing (2009, 2010).  His essays have been finalists in contests held by Narrative Magazine and Third Coast Magazine and his essay, "The Bamenda Syndrome," won the Grand Prize in the Solas Awards for Travel Writing. Currently, David is an adjunct professor in the Humanities Department at The Illinois Institute of Technology.
